Prior to her appointment, Emma led Columbia’s Women’s Wrestling Club and the women’s program at the New York City Regional Training Center. She previously served as Girls Head Coach and High School Program Director for Beat the Streets NYC. From 2012–2018, Emma was a member of USA Wrestling’s women’s freestyle national coaching staff, coaching at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as well as numerous World Championships across age levels. A former collegiate and senior-level wrestler, Emma earned both her B.A. and M.S. in Sport Psychology from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, she earned USA Wrestling’s Gold Level coaching certification, becoming one of only two women and fewer than 125 coaches in the United States to achieve the distinction. She was also a founding board member of Wrestle Like A Girl and has remained active in efforts to grow and advance opportunities for women in wrestling. Throughout her career, Emma has focused on more than competitive outcomes, with an emphasis on how sport can be used to develop confident, capable, and resilient people. In 2017, she founded Evolve Leadership and Performance Training to share best practices in coaching methodology, sport psychology, athlete development, high performance, culture building, and leadership.
